Veganism is the term for a diet consisting only of foods that do not come from animals in any way. While vegetarianism rejects meat, veganism takes it a step further and avoids foods like butter and eggs that are created by animals.

Some vegans take this concept even further. To them, veganism extends its philosophy to products like honey which requires bees for its production and gelatin which comes from the boiled bones of animals.

Then, there is the “vegan-ish” diet. This is a diet in which animal products are generally avoided but some exceptions can be made. It’s a diet that’s ideal for people who have strong feelings about the welfare of animals or want to enjoy certain health benefits but don’t want to be so strict with what they consume that they aren’t allowed to enjoy a piece of cheese from time to time.

Just because you’re not going fully vegan doesn’t mean that you can’t reap the many benefits of maintaining a strictly vegan diet. By generally avoiding certain animal products, areas of your life such as your health can dramatically improve.

Acne is a fairly common problem that can affect a person of any age. What many people don’t realize is that the foods that we eat can be the source of our zits. As it turns out, lots of people experience breakouts due to a high intake of dairy. By cutting back almost completely on dairy products, your skin’s condition may improve dramatically.

Want to lower your chances of getting a heart attack or a stroke? Avoid animal products as much as possible. Studies show that a plant-based diet can dramatically lower your risk of cardiovascular disease.

For people who are looking to lose weight, look no further than the vegan diet. By cutting out foods that are high in saturated fats like certain meat and dairy products, you can lose weight quickly and in a totally healthy way.

Granted, if you don’t want to be a strict vegan, you can still lose weight by generally avoiding animal products. After all, a glass of milk once a week isn’t going to cause your weight to skyrocket.

Anyone who has been going to the grocery store for years know that products like meat and dairy can be expensive. On the other hand, vegan items like produce, beans and grains are relatively affordable.
