5 Colon Cancer Signs

Colon cancer signs are not always present when an individual is affected with this disease. In fact, a large percentage of individuals affected by the condition are without any type of symptoms or polyps for a lengthy time after the cancer has developed. When there are signs of colon cancer, the following 5 are the most common.

1. Bowel Movement Changes

Persistent constipation or diarrhea, rectal cramping, bowel movement urgency or the inability to completely empty the bowel are all changes to keep a watchful eye on. These symptoms are common colon cancer signs experienced by many affected by the condition.

2. Bloating/ Discomfort

Discomfort in the abdominal section, accompanied by bloating, are yet additional signs that are commonly experienced by those with colorectal cancer. When combined with other signs, it is a good idea to see the doctor.

3. Physical Changes

If you seem to no longer have any kind of energy, fatigue, and loss of appetite, these are signs of colorectal cancer. Physical changes come with any kind of cancer, including colon cancer.

4. Pelvic Pain

Pelvic pain is not a sign of colorectal cancer that many experience, at least until the cancer is well advanced. If pelvic pain accompanies any of the other above signs, schedule your doctor appointment sooner rather than later.

5. Changes in Stool

If you notice that there is a major change in your stool, you’re encountering yet another sign of colon cancer. Dark patches within the stool and cramping in the rectal area are commonly experienced colon cancer signs.

When to Call the Doctor

Call your doctor immediately if you notice bleeding from the rectum, blood in your stool, unexplained weight loss, or if you’ve previously been diagnosed with anemia. Oftentimes anemia can cause bleeding from the digestive tract, caused by colorectal cancer.
