5 Reasons to Get Dental Implants

An excellent way to have your teeth fixed and look good is to get dental implants. This method can provide you with a great way to get your teeth repaired for a long time to come. These 5 reasons will show you why dental implants may be your best option.

1. Provides a Better Fit

Dentures are known to slip at times, and this can be embarrassing. It can also cause you to mispronounce your words. As if that wasn’t bad enough, if your dentures do not fit quite right, they can produce sores in your mouth. Dental implants, on the other hand, will not slip or produce sores. This gives you greater self-confidence, enabling you to interact with people naturally. They also feel more like your natural teeth – and look like them, too.

2. Keeps Your Jawbone Strong

When teeth are missing, your jaw will naturally reabsorb some of the bone where that tooth is missing. This can cause your facial appearance to change, and it will appear to be sunken in after a while. Besides aging your appearance, your teeth will also shift, which can cause other dental problems. Dental implants, or a single implant, keep your jawbone intact, and your face still looking full and good.

3. Dental Implants Can Last a Lifetime

Bridges or dentures have a limited lifespan and have to be replaced every so often. A bridge may only last for 7 to 10 years, and dentures need replacing as your jawbone shrinks. Both of them can break, too. A dental implant or implants can last as long as you live, if you take care of them. They are made of highly durable materials – including titanium.

4. Eat What You Want

With bridges or dentures, you need to be careful about what you eat. Hard foods may damage or even break them, and they are costly to replace. With dental implants, however, you are free to eat anything, and not have to worry about them. They let you enjoy eating again, and you can bite comfortably and naturally. Cleaning your teeth after eating is not a problem, either, because you would clean them the same way you clean your natural teeth.

5. May Be Less Expensive in the Long Run

While dental implants are initially going to cost you more than either getting bridges or dentures, they may be less expensive over time. Bridges and dentures will eventually need to be replaced, possibly more than once, but dental implants can last a lifetime. When you also consider that your jaw will continue to shrink with the other options, dental implants will keep it healthy, and will enable you to keep looking young – and let you keep your natural smile, too.

Dental implants can be given to many people, even if your jawbone has suffered some deterioration. The jaw can be rebuilt up over time, and you can get implants. Consultation with a dentist who performs implant surgery is necessary, and some dentists even have software that can show you how you will look after the implant procedure.
