Everyone wants the coveted flat stomach, but not everyone has the motivation to get it. You also need to be aware of the effort it takes to achieve that flat and sexy stomach you have always wanted. A smaller waistline is indicative of better health. A larger waistline can lead to severe health complications because of the visceral fat that is located there. Here are five tips to a flat stomach.
Hydration cannot be emphasized nearly enough. Drinking enough water on a daily basis will keep bloat at bay. If you have a high-sodium diet, extra water is especially important. You should aim for at least eight glasses of water per day, but a little more than that isn’t going to hurt. You can add lemon to your water for extra benefit.
Abs Are Made In The Kitchen
Your diet is going to be more important than your fitness when it comes to getting a flat tummy. Abs are made in the kitchen. A moderate-protein diet that is low in fat, sodium and high in fiber is the best option. It should be mostly plant based. Grapefruit, spinach, soups, minimal amounts of bread and no sugary drinks will help you achieve the body goals you have envisioned.
Cardio Will Help
Cardio done in high-intensity intervals will help you shed your midsection a little faster than doing targeted exercises. You can’t target your fat loss, but you can lose weight overall by doing plenty of intense cardio. You don’t need to log hours at the gym to get the results you want either. A little strength training in addition to cardio will also help keep you trim and working towards that flat belly.
Avoid Sugary Alcoholic Beverages
Alcohol in itself isn’t bad, but excessive amounts of it can be disastrous for your midsection. Avoid sugary margaritas and mimosas. Go for a glass of wine, beer or a shot of liquor. These have fewer calories and none of the added stuff your body doesn’t need.
You Can’t Fight Genetics
Sometimes genetics just isn’t on your side. Some people will naturally have a larger midsection. These people are said to have an apple shape. There’s nothing wrong with that, but you will need to work harder if you want a flat stomach. You may never achieve the exact goal you want, but it’s important to focus on health above all else.
