De-Stressing Your Daily Commute

Commuting to work every day can get tiring, especially if it is an hour or more each way. When you get home from work, you just feel so tired and stressed. Your commute can stress you out so much that you are miserable to be around. Luckily, there are a few ways you can de-stress during your daily commute.

Carpool With Others

Consider carpooling with your coworkers. It not only is better for the environment and cheaper; it will also make your daily commute less stressful. Carpooling with other people can ease stress because you know that you are not alone. Also, being able to converse with others will make the commute more pleasant.

Play Soft Music

It is helpful to play soft music while you are commuting. Soft and slow music can divert your attention away from your stress and help you become more focused. However, you should not play very loud and upbeat music because it might irritate your nerves.

Use Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy can do wonders for your mood. It can relieve a lot of stress and make your commute more pleasant. For example, you can get an aromatherapy roll-on stick and apply it on your pulse points. After you apply it, you will feel a great sense of relief.

Eat a Nutritious Breakfast

The type of breakfast you eat can affect the way you feel during your commute. If you eat foods that offer no nutritional value, such as pop tarts, you likely will feel sluggish. If you eat fruits, like blueberries or oranges, for breakfast, you will have energy and feel better during your commute.

Be Mindful

It is a very good idea to practice mindfulness during your commute. You should just clear your mind and be mindful of your environment. Pay attention to the nature surrounding you while you drive. Being mindful can help you relax before you arrive at work.

There is no doubt that commuting back and forth can be stressful, but it does not have to be unbearable. If you follow these simple tips, your commute will be a lot more pleasant.
