1. Depression

2. Sweaty Head

This oddly specific symptom has been used to categorize vitamin D deficiency since the inception of modern medicine. Today, this symptom is associated with vitamin D deficiency in newborn babies, since a sweaty head can indicate the presence of rickets, perhaps the most serious form of vitamin D deficiency.

3. Chronic Fatigue

If you experience exhaustion on a regular basis with no underlying reason, such as strenuous exercise or work, then you may suffer from a vitamin D deficiency. Vitamin D is required for energy production in the body, so improper levels will leave you feeling tired and sluggish.

4. Muscle Weakness

It has been clinically proven that low levels of vitamin D, especially for those individuals over the age of 60, can lead to decreased muscle strength. It has be hypothesized that the majority of unexplained muscle weakness in any age group can be attributed to low vitamin D levels.

5. Chronic Joint Pain

This is one of the more common symptoms of a vitamin D deficiency. Vitamin D helps promote the absorption of calcium, so a lack of sufficient vitamin D can lead to problems in the bones and joints. A vitamin D supplement is usually enough to remedy this issue, and such a supplement will also help prevent tooth decay, since teeth require calcium as well.

6. Psoriasis

This condition is autoimmune in nature, but it is linked to the vitamin D levels in the body. Adequate vitamin D will provide a natural treatment for the condition. Chronic psoriasis might be a symptom of a larger issue, so be sure to check your vitamin D levels regularly if you suffer from this skin malady.
