How To Naturally Whiten Your Teeth

The quality of their smile is one of the most important presentations a person can show, but it is also the most susceptible to damage from everyday use and activities such as drinking alcohol and smoking. If brushing your teeth is not effective enough to give you the smile that desire, try these natural remedies for brightening the teeth without resorting to harsh chemicals.

Coconut Oil Pulling
You can apply coconut oil to the teeth after brushing to whiten the teeth, or you can try a technique called oil pulling. Oil pulling consists of placing a spoonful of coconut oil and swishing it around the mouth without swallowing for 5 to 20 minutes. Be sure to not place a large spoonful of coconut oil in your mouth; the oil will expand after a few minutes of swishing. Rinse with salt water to clear out any leftover bacteria that was pulled out of the crevices of the mouth.

Citrus Peels or Juice
Rub lemon or orange peels on the teeth to to whiten them Rinse the mouth with water to prevent the citric acid from wearing away teeth enamel or use half water and half hydrogen peroxide for at least a full minute. Lemon juice not only whitens teeth, but can freshen the breath by rinsing and swallowing.

Baking Soda and Hydrogen Peroxide
Use a small amount of baking soda along with a small amount of hydrogen peroxide to create a paste to brush the teeth. Make sure that the paste is not gritty in order to protect your teeth enamel; it should have a runny consistency as opposed to a stiff one. Be careful not to use too much hydrogen peroxide to prevent clearing the mouth of the helpful bacteria that exists there.

Crunchy Fruits and Vegetables
Crunchy fruits and vegetables such as apples, carrots and celery increase saliva production and naturally remove stains. The crunch in these natural teeth whiteners scrub the teeth clean with each bite.

Apple Cider Vinegar
Continuous use of apple cider vinegar for at least a month removes stains caused by nicotine and coffee, but can also wear down teeth enamel. It is best to brush with regular toothpaste (one without fluoride) or rinse the mouth well after brushing with apple cider vinegar.

Strawberries
Crush five strawberries, rub them on the teeth and rinse them after a few minutes. The whitening effects may be immediate or will begin to show after continuous use for at least a month. Be sure to brush and floss as usual after using the strawberry paste.
