Salmonella Outbreak Update

USDA is  allowing  processing plants to stay open after almost 300 people have been sickened by eating contaminated chicken. When news broke Foster Farms processing plant was blamed for the outbreak, but more companies have been linked.

Avoid Contamination Brands

  • Ralphs
  • Safeway Farms
  • Simple Truth Organic
  • O Organics
  • Eating Right
  • Kirkland Signature
  • Open Nature

 

You can keep you and your family safe when cooking by:

Wash hands, cutting boards, utensils, and countertops.

Keep raw meat, poultry, and seafood separate from ready-to-eat foods.

Use a food thermometer to ensure that foods are cooked to a safe internal temperature: 145°F for whole meats, 160°F for ground meats, and 165°F for all poultry

Keep your refrigerator below 40°F and refrigerate food that will spoil.
